David Martnez, journalist and editor head of Alicante Place.

We inaugurate our section dedicated to journalists of Alicante with David Martnez Jord¡. Been born in Alcoy for 34 years, It has been licensed in Public Publicity and Relations by the University of Alicante (UA). He was collaborating of ABC Alicante between 2003 and 2008, where it happened to be delegated in 2008 until 2014, when it gave the jump to exert of top person in charge of the edition in the Valencian Community of the periodic dean of the Spanish press. Recently head to the most recent publishing project of the province has gotten up itself as editor, Alicante Place, where she is the person in charge of the sections of Economy and Company.

€“ What I take to more concretely dedicate you to you to the media and to the written press?

€“ €¨ Memory to have wanted to be journalist from small, with seven or eight years robbed mother to him the photos of the celebrations of Moors and Christians of Alcoy of its albums to compose the cover of my own newspaper. When I finished the secondary studies doubted between the media or the publilcidad, but finally the practices of the race in ABC finished to me deciding. What I always knew clearly is that it wanted to dedicate me to the written press, because what I like more is to write. I do not see or the radio on TV.

€“ How it has changed the media from your homes? €¨

€“ Good, the truth is that the theory of the race (Publicity and Journalism shared the majority of main in the first cycle before the change of Bologna) has quickly remained out of phase. For example, when I studied Internet I was in diapers, and now the documentation subject is useless developing, beyond some rudiments more theoretical than technicians. I began in this when the written press lined up its reduction to the abysses. ABC sold 250,000 daily units at that time, and today with great difficulty it arrives at the 100.000. But I believe that the written media has evolved little. What yes it has changed is that €œhas been democratised€, by thus saying, the enterprise work. Alicante Place is a great example, as other average digitalises. I believe that the influence of the social networks and the war by the immediacy has gone to the detriment of the quality of the contents, but are means that continue very well making the things.

€“ Which is the best moment than you have lived as journalist?

€“ There have been several good moments. For example, to see the ex-president of the Delegation of Alicante Joaqun Ripoll imputed by corruption, after years to publish its handlings in ABC, when nobody more dared to do it. Or to be the journalist who kept awake that Leire Pajn was going to be the spokeswoman of the Valencian delegation in the federal congress of the 2008 PSOE, when the means €œof lefts€ bet by Joan Lerma. The interview to Jean-Jacques Annaud in City of the Light, a news article on jihadist in the field of Cartagena that only published some days before they stopped to the magnet of Torrepacheco, with that I got to speak€¦ this profession allows you to live unforgettable experiences.

€“ And the worse one?

€“ The worse moment, without a doubt, for seeing how they dismissed several of my companions to the delegation of ABC in Alicante and the Valencian Community.

۬ ۬ -Who have been your professionals of reference?

€“ This is an office, and when salts of the faculty, in fact, you do not have nor idea of how it becomes. A referring one for my has been always Isaac Blasco, my predecessor in the delegations of ABC in Alicante and Valencian Community, that was the one who formed to me as journalist. Of student much El Pas read, but I do not believe that my style drinks of the one of some of its companies stars, the truth. As writers, I am a fan absolute of V¡zquez Montalb¡n and, although it sounds rotten, of Vargas Llosa.

€“ Which you think that they are the characteristics that are to have a good journalist nowadays?

€“ The fundamental one is the curiosity. This it is a work in which every day you learn new things, but for that you must do questions to you. First you, and soon to transfer them whom can answer them. Without curiosity it is not possible to be a good journalist. In addition I believe that, although you do not write as Los Angeles, if you do not have a little hard face, you will arrive either very far. As far as the technical question, obvious, it is necessary to know how to write with correction, but it can be without fiorituras (we are not poets), and have a great didactic capacity, because all the readers do not know the subject well of which you are writing. Shelp this, the journalists born before the digital divide are passing it badly at the moment. A basic knowledge on the digital surroundings is essential nowadays.

€“ It is the media in crisis or only it is it the traditional informative company? Which are the opportunities that have new means in the present context?

€“ I believe that the crisis is only of the classic press undertakings. I return to the example of Alicante Place, or to the one of so many other means of recent creation, that have bet by the digital surroundings without resigning to the quality content. The media as profession, however, is put under a greater scrutiny of the public thanks to the social networks. There is a €˜much more immediate feedback€™, and is necessary to know how to handle it clearly because the judgments of the hearing not always are nice to hear. It is always going to make lack journalists. And the attempts of some €œintruders€ have made it clear lately. The €œcitizen media€ is a great deceit. I cannot either fix the car to you because I am not mechanic, for example. The citizens can be sources, nonjournalists. To hang a video in twitter is not to make journalism. As far as the opportunities, I believe that those companies that know to operate the potentiality of the digital media will be successful. But in the end, I insist, one is to count the news, and to count them well.

€“ Describe to us to your new professional adventure and the reasons that have taken to bet to you by a new project in spite of having a position of autonomic responsibility in the daily dean of the Spanish press.

€“ I have made all my trajectory as journalist in ABC, and very I am thankful him to this newspaper by thirteen years in which she has allowed to dedicate to me passion me and to grow professionally. But everything in this life is stages. The opportunity arose to begin something new, from zero, and that was very stimulating. Apart from which I admire the companions with whom it was going to share writing and desired much to me to work with them. There is one who thinks that I have taken an one step back to let the direction of national means in Valencia to return to Alicante to be editor head of a native digitalis. I believe that rather he is quite the opposite. Alicante Place comes to cover a hollow that existed in the mediatic panorama of Alicante, to offer information specialized in economy and companies, in addition to policy, culture and sports, with a new optics and the will of vertebrar the Community. To leave the €œValencia hates to us€ that so many holders of the local press of Alicante seep to defend that €œValencia and Alicante can be helped mutually€.

€“ How you would describe the mediatic panorama in Alicante? €¨

€“ It would say that it is anchylosed. The crisis of the sector, the disappearance of heads and the fact that 70% of the paper market are won by an only newspaper has induced sleep the mediatic panorama. The irruption of Alicante Place, in fact, has had a positive effect, because since we were born the 6 from October, I much more read interesting information in the other means, that want to defend their position and the batteries have been put.

€“ RTVV yes or RTVV no? What formula you would like that she had? €¨

€“ RTVV yes, but with shades. The autonomic television, whereas public, must have a social function. It does not need to buy rights of emission of films or series just worn for the first time, for example, nor to offer great sport events, because that or the private ones do it. It must be a proximity television, that covers what they do not do the others because of being not attractive in economic terms. It goes, with clear a Keynsian inspiration, that it is so I believe that the public sector must exist, does not stop to compete with the private one but to complement it. In the debate of the language, I believe that if the new RTVV is only in Valencian, as they postulate some from pseudonationalistic positions, not only will be a great failure, but it will stop acting this as. 40% of the population of the Valencian Community are castellanoparlante, and Puig and Oltra are not going to obtain that in Orihuela, Torrevieja or Villena all are put to speak in Valencian by decree 33.

۬ - Where you see yourself journalistically speaking within 10 years?

- I do not have nor idea. I hope that by then it can continue dedicating to me to which I like, that she has not burned to me and, if she can be, that continues being in a Alicante Place totally consolidated as local mediums more of the province of Alicante.
